Chapter and Verse
Chapter and Verse is a literary reading series sponsored by Jamaica Pond Poets, usually on the second Friday of the month, from October through May at 7:30 pm. The readings resume in fall, 2024, at the historic Loring Greenough House, 12 South Street in Monument Square in Jamaica Plain where they have been held for more than 20 years.
Readings in January and February will be on Zoom only. (From October, 2020 to May 2022 all of the readings were held on Zoom due to the pandemic). The other readings will be live only. Chapter and Verse usually features three readers per event. Chapter and Verse managers are: Dorothy Derifield (Director) and David Miller (Co-director). December 13 (Friday) – Richard Hoffman, Susanna Kittredge*, and Sara Letourneau
Richard Hoffman is the author of five books of poetry: Without Paradise; Gold Star Road, winner of The New England Poetry Club’s Sheila Motton Award; Emblem; Noon until Night, which received the Massachusetts Book Award, and People Once Real. His other books include the memoirs, Half the House and Love & Fury, Interference and Other Stories, and the essay collection Remembering the Alchemists.
Susanna Kittredge’s* poems have appeared in publications such as Barrow Street, 14 Hills, The Columbia Review, and Salamander as well as anthologies including Shadowed: Unheard Voices (The Press at California State University, Fresno 2014). Her first full-length collection, The Future Has a Reputation, was published by the CW Books imprint of WordTech Communications in 2020. She lives in Massachusetts and is an active member of The Jamaica Pond Poets workshop group and the Brighton Word Factory, a bi-weekly open writing group. By day she teaches middle schoolers. Sara Letourneau’s debut poetry collection, Wild Gardens, is out now through Kelsay Books. She’s also a book editor and writing coach at Heart of the Story Editorial & Coaching Services; the cofounder and cohost of the Pour Me a Poem open mic in Mansfield, Massachusetts; and the co-editor of the Pour Me a Poem anthology. Her poetry has won the 2023 Beals Prize for Poetry and the Blue Institute’s 2020 Words on Water contest. Her new and upcoming work can be found in Amethyst Review, The Arts Fuse, Gyroscope Review, Nixes Mate Review, Rituals, Remington Review, and Silver Birch Press, among others. Sara lives in Foxboro, Massachusetts.
